Majuro, MH – September 30, 2025 – Courage, resilience, and community came together on Tuesday as the Ministry of Health & Human Services (MOHHS) Women United Together Marshall Islands (WUTMI RMI ), Youth to Youth in Health (YTYIH), Waan Aelon in Majol (WAM), and Marshall Islands Epidemiological Prevention Initiatives (MIEPI), hosted a powerful mental health awareness initiative focused on suicide prevention.
At the heart of the event were parents Libon Joseph and Terry Keju, who bravely shared their experiences of losing a child to suicide. Their openness and strength inspired the community, reminding everyone of the importance of love, connection, and prevention.
Through a walkathon, candlelight vigil, and a roro (traditional chant) led by WAM Director Alson Kelen, participants honored those lost, supported survivors, and reinforced the role of community and culture in promoting mental wellness.
This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to supporting families, raising awareness, reducing stigma, and ensuring that every life is valued and remembered.
